Arewa Consultative Forum has suspended its chairman, Mamman Osuman, over his comments that the ACF would support northern candidates in the 2027 general election.
Osuman had said the North would back a northern candidate for the presidency in 2027.
He stated that the ACF would support northern candidates and others who might be seeking political offices in 2027 to save the region and the country at large.
He said this while speaking during the Forum’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the ACF secretariat in Kaduna on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
However, the northern socio-cultural group announced the suspension of Osuman in a statement issued by the Chairman of ACF Board of Trustees and Secretary General, Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu and Murtala Dutse Matawallen, respectively, on Thursday, November 21.
Tinubu: My focus not on 2027 election
The Forum stated: “The statements were made by the NEC Chairman without consulting or discussing with other leaders and members of the ACF and thus, reflected Mr. Osuman’s personal opinion only.
“ACF rejects Mr Mamman Mike Osuman’s statements in their entirety.
“For this reason, the leadership of the ACF’s Board of Trustees (BOT) and that of its NEC has decided to place Mr Mamman Mike Osuman on suspension with immediate effect. A Committee has been constituted for further investigations.”
