2027: Gov Radda denies VP ambition

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has dismissed speculation linking him to a Vice Presidential bid in the 2023 and 2027 general elections.

The governor addressed the rumour through a statement released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed.

The clarification came during an event organised by the Dutsin-Ma Development Forum in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area.

“I’ve seen posters and messages suggesting I’m pursuing another office,” Radda said.

“Let me be clear, I sought your mandate to serve as Governor of Katsina State, and that is my only focus.

“I am not behind any campaign to contest elsewhere. My duty is to fulfill the trust you’ve placed in me.”

At the event, the forum distributed 600 bags of maize and ₦5,000 cash each to victims of insecurity in the area.

Radda commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of shared community values.

“This gesture shows our collective compassion and unity during difficult times,” he said.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, Radda stressed that peace remains a top priority.

“We are working tirelessly to restore lasting peace in Katsina. We won’t make promises we can’t keep.

“Every decision we take is guided by sincerity and the fear of God,” he stated.

Addressing infrastructure concerns, the governor also announced plans to extend an ongoing waterway project from Dutsin-Ma to Charanchi and other nearby communities.

Chairman of the Dutsin-Ma Development Forum, Dr. Sabi’u Liadi, lauded Radda’s humility and dedication, noting his personal presence at the event as a sign of genuine leadership.

Local Government Chairman Kabir Abdussalam-Shema praised the governor’s leadership style, declaring full support for a second term.

“Your Excellency, we’ve seen results and believe in continuity. You have our endorsement,” he said.

In response, Governor Radda expressed gratitude but emphasized that his future rests in divine hands.

“If it is the will of Almighty Allah and good for the people, it shall be. If not, I pray He guides us to something even better,” he said.
