2027: Jigawa PDP unveils 45-member campaign team

The Peoples Democratic Party has begun preparations for the 2027 Jigawa governorship election with the inauguration of a 45-member campaign council headed by its governorship candidate, Mustapha Lamido.

The council, announced by Lamido in a statement issued in Dutse on Friday night, is saddled with the responsibility of driving the party’s mobilisation and engagement across Jigawa’s 27 local government areas.

Lamido said the team was deliberately constituted to bring together party leaders, political stakeholders and grassroots organisers ahead of the election.

“I am pleased to announce the composition of the Jigawa State PDP 2027 Campaign Council to lead our mobilisation and engagement across the 27 local government areas,” he said.

Inuwa Tahir will serve as deputy chairman, while Senator Mustapha Khabeeb was named Vice Chairman I for Jigawa Central.

Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure will serve as Vice Chairman II for the North-West, with Yusuf Dunari as Vice Chairman III for the North-East.

The council includes former Inspector-General of Police Suleiman Abba, Dr Nuraddeen Mohammed, former deputy governorship candidate Babandi Gumel, Dr Aminu Taura and Professor Mustapha Jarumi.

Other members are Isah Zakari Bosuwa, Idris Alhaji Garba Kareka, Ali Idris Diginsa and Nasir Umar Roni, alongside serving and former lawmakers, party officials and other stakeholders.

Lamido said the inclusion of members of the State Working Committee and grassroots mobilisers was aimed at giving the campaign a broad reach across the state.

The candidate also unveiled the campaign directorate that will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the campaign.

Shehu Liman Wan was appointed Director-General, while Nasir Mohammed will serve as secretary.

Nuraddeen Muhammad will head Strategy and Mobilisation, while Abba was assigned the Security Directorate.

Aminu Abubakar was named Director of Finance, Umar Kyari will oversee Media and Publicity, and Umar Birniwa will head Planning, Research, Organisation and Documentation.

Fahad Hashim was appointed Director of Youth and Support Groups, while Murja Garki will coordinate women’s mobilisation.

Lamido expressed confidence that the campaign structure would deliver victory for the PDP in the 2027 election.

He was affirmed as the party’s governorship candidate in May after emerging as the sole aspirant for the ticket.
