53-year-old teacher sent to prison for raping teenage student

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State has remanded a 53-year-old teacher, Ayodeji Onoviran, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling one of his students.

The Chief Magistrate, L. A. Owolabi, ordered the remand of the teacher on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The defendant is being tried for rape.

The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed at a secondary school in Ijeshatedo, Lagos State, in August 2024.

Ademigbuji said the student, a 13-year-old girl, was attending a summer lesson organised by the defendant when he defiled her.
