Sit-at-home: Gunmen kill soldiers in Abia

Gunmen have reportedly killed a yet-to-be-ascertained number of soldiers during sit-at-home declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Aba, Abia State.

The soldiers were killed in an ambush by the gunmen on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Videos shared by X (formerly Twitter) users revealed that the incident occurred at the Obikabia junction in Ogbor Hill, Aba.

A military vehicle was set ablaze by the gunmen while gunshots were also heard in the videos.

IPOB had declared a May 30 sit-at-home across the South-East region of the country.

The group warned that there would be no business activities and no movements to honour Igbo people killed during the civil war of 1967-1970.

The sit-at-home order was rejected by the government.

However, the Nigerian Army has yet to speak on the latest incident as of press time.
