The Lagos State Police Command says it has commenced an investigation into the fatal shooting of one Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as Agali, by suspected cultists in the Surulere area of the state.
The command disclosed this in a post shared on X on Sunday, saying the shooting incident occurred at the National Stadium Bridge, Surulere, at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
The command was reacting to a video from the scene posted by an X user, which showed a damaged white vehicle at the location with a crowd of people gathered around.
The post further suggested possible tensions between rival groups and referenced concerns over potential reprisals.

However, the police said the victim was rushed to the Mainland General Hospital in Yaba, where he was confirmed dead.
The command wrote on X: “The Command is aware of the shooting incident involving Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as ‘Agali,’ which occurred on 11th April 2026 at about 11:30pm on National Stadium Bridge inward Iponri. The victim was rushed to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, where he was confirmed dead.
“Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
