The Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of a bail application filed by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.
The adjournment was announced on Tuesday by Justice Darius Khobo, who is presiding over the case involving allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office brought against the former governor by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Following the proceedings, El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated delays in hearing the bail application, saying the adjournment appeared politically motivated.

Journalists were again barred from entering the courtroom, as the hearing focused on arguments from both the prosecution and defence concerning the bail request.
At the previous hearing, the defence team argued that El-Rufai is not a flight risk and is prepared to comply with any conditions imposed by the court.
However, prosecutors urged the court to weigh the seriousness of the allegations before granting bail.
