The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed its presidential and governorship screening exercise earlier scheduled for the weekend to Monday, May 18, 2026.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the adjustment affects all presidential and governorship aspirants seeking to contest on its platform.
The party also announced a change in venue for the screening of National Assembly aspirants from Northern Nigeria, citing prevailing security concerns in parts of the region. It said the exercise will now hold in Abuja instead of the previously planned locations.
According to the statement, all affected aspirants will be contacted with updated schedules and further instructions regarding the screening process.
The ADC expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the changes, while appreciating the understanding and cooperation of aspirants and stakeholders.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to inform all presidential and governorship aspirants that the party’s screening exercise earlier scheduled for this weekend has been postponed to Monday, 18th May 2026,” the statement read.
It added that due to security challenges in parts of Northern Nigeria, the screening of federal legislative aspirants from the affected areas would now be conducted in Abuja.
