Former Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has emerged as the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His emergence followed clearance and confirmation by the national leadership of the Labour Party on Saturday, barely a week after he was screened at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
With the ticket secured, Abbo is set to contest against candidates of other major political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, in what is expected to be a highly competitive race.
In his acceptance remarks, Abbo pledged to prioritise economic revitalisation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and improved service delivery across the state.
He also called for inclusive governance that focuses on job creation, education, healthcare and security for residents.
In a post on his Facebook page, Abbo expressed confidence in his chances at the polls, declaring that he expects to be sworn in as governor in May 2027.
“By this time next year, 29th May 2027, I will be sworn in as Governor of Adamawa State. Congratulate me in advance,” he wrote.
His emergence is expected to intensify political activities in Adamawa State as parties begin wider consultations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections across the 21 local government areas.
Abbo is also expected to commence strategic engagements with stakeholders as he seeks to consolidate support for his governorship ambition.
