The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commended Dunamis International Gospel Centre for constructing a pedestrian bridge in Abuja, describing the project as an example of leadership driven by service to the people.
Wike said this on Friday during the commissioning of the bridge, which was built by the church as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
He said leadership should be measured by tangible contributions to society rather than declarations of good intentions, urging religious institutions, private organisations and individuals to support efforts to improve public welfare.
“Watching the documentary and seeing what you have done, touching lives, not only with your soul, but talking about the welfare of other people, that is leadership,” Wike said.
The minister commended the church’s Senior Pastor, Paul Enenche, and his wife for investing resources in a project intended to benefit the wider community.
He said the intervention demonstrated how religious organisations could contribute to public infrastructure and safety beyond their spiritual responsibilities.

Wike also recalled the church’s engagements with the FCT Administration, saying an application submitted in 2018 was brought to his attention after the church renewed its request in February 2026.
According to him, approval was granted within a short period, reflecting the administration’s willingness to support initiatives that promote public welfare.
The minister urged Nigerians to assess public office holders based on verifiable achievements rather than political rhetoric or social media narratives.
He said leaders must be prepared to account for their decisions and demonstrate how they had used the opportunities entrusted to them to improve people’s lives.
Wike also assured the church of the FCT Administration’s readiness to support initiatives promoting public safety and community development, indicating that the government would consider contributing 50 per cent towards an associated project.
He called on other religious organisations, corporate bodies and individuals to emulate Dunamis by investing in projects that address community needs.
Earlier, Enenche said Christian love should be demonstrated through selflessness, giving and practical contributions to humanity.
The cleric urged leaders to focus on solving problems and making meaningful contributions to society, rather than accumulating wealth.
He added that the church’s responsibility extended beyond spiritual activities to interventions that improve people’s welfare and support community development.
