Abba Yusuf emerges Kano NNPP guber candidate

Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Kano State.

Yusuf was the only contestant in the primary election that affirmed his candidature.

Chairman of the election committee, Senator Musa Bako Aujara, announced that 1, 452 delegates were accredited to vote at the primaries held on Monday.

Aujara said the affirmation was necessary despite the unopposed contest of Yusuf as the only governorship aspirant of the party.

“Three delegates from each of the 484 wards affirmed him as the governorship candidate of the party for the 2023 election,” he said.

Speaking shortly after the affirmation, Yusuf applauded the party members, delegates and other stakeholders for giving him the opportunity to contest in the primaries.

He further called on members of the party to work hard and remain united for the success of the party in the 2023 general election.

Yusuf contested 2019 governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to the incumbent Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in a controversial inconclusive election.
