ACF to security agents: Act fast to save Nigerians

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on Abia State Government and security agencies to be proactive to save innocent citizens before they are killed by assailants.

The ACF made this known in reaction to the attack on the newly constructed Abia cattle market in Abia State.

Recall that gunmen had on Tuesday attacked the Abia cattle market in Omumauzor in the Ukwa West Local Government of Abia State and killed no fewer than eight persons.

However, the ACF, in its reaction, called on the Abia State Government and security agencies “to be proactive and act fast to save lives of innocent citizens instead of reacting when valuable lives are already lost.”

The Forum further called on the security operatives to speed up investigation and arrest the unknown gunmen who attacked the newly constructed market and killed “innocent citizens”.

ACF, however, commended the state government and police operatives for their prompt reaction to the attack on the Abia cattle market.

It added: “We sympathise with the families of those who have lost their lives and properties and urge them to remain calm as the government has promised to look into their plights. Those who have lost loved ones should not take the laws into their hands.

“As the cause of the deadly attack is yet to be established, we call on the security agencies to speed up investigations so that the confidence of the bereaved families is maintained.”
