Adamawa election: IGP removes CP as result collation resumes

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the Commissioner of Police on election duty in Adamawa State, Mohammed Barde, from the state.

The IGP also ordered the Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Etim Equa, to replace Barde with immediate effect.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, April 18.

Adejobi said the latest directive was to ensure a free and fair electoral process in Adamawa State, following Saturday’s governorship supplementary election in the state.

The latest development comes a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials reconvened at the state collation centre in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
