The Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed four new principal officers, following the impeachment of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The new Speaker, Mojisola Meranda (APC-Apapa 1), made this known while presiding over plenary in Lagos on Friday, January 17.
Obasa was impeached on Monday over alleged gross misconduct by 32 out of the 40 members of the House.
The Clerk of the House, Lekan Onafeko, was also suspended over alleged gross financial impropriety.
The House also dissolved all the standing committees inaugurated by Obasa.
Meranda said the announcement of new officers was a result of the change of the leadership of the House.
