Again, gunmen strike in Ondo, kill 6

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed no fewer than six persons at Sabo Area of Ondo town, Ondo State.

It was gathered that the assailants also robbed some residents of the area during the attack which occurred on Wednesday night.

The incident was confirmed by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, noting that efforts were ongoing to nab the gunmen.

Odunlami, however, said the incident was a robbery case.

The incident is coming barely a few days after terrorists killed many worshippers in an attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State last Sunday.

In his reaction, the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, vowed to hunt down the suspected terrorists, saying the attack was an attempt to test the will of the people of the state and the South-West region of the country.

Akeredolu, who described the attack as “a black Sunday in Owo”, further stressed that the state will never bow to the machinations of heartless elements in its resolve to stamp out criminals.
