Alleged N868.4m fraud: Court fixes Feb 10 to cross-examine ex-acting AGF Nwabuoku

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, has fixed February 10, 2026, for the cross-examination of former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, in his ongoing alleged fraud trial.

Nwabuoku is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a nine-count amended charge bordering on alleged money laundering involving N868.4 million.

The former acting AGF, who testified as the first defence witness (DW1), told the court that he had previously been invited for questioning by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), where he made statements concerning the matter.

While being led in evidence by his counsel, N. I. Quakers, SAN, the defendant denied all allegations of money laundering and fraud brought against him and urged the court to discharge and acquit him.

After his testimony, Justice Omotosho adjourned proceedings until February 10 for the prosecution to cross-examine the defendant.
