The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved the party’s Enugu State Executive Committee and approved the appointment of a seven-member Caretaker Committee to oversee its affairs in the state.
The decision was part of the resolutions reached at the 179th meeting of the NWC held on Thursday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja under the chairmanship of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, the new Caretaker Committee will be inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. The committee is chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh serving as Secretary. Other members include H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh.
Meseko explained that the dissolution followed a comprehensive review of the state of the party in Enugu, aimed at repositioning the APC for greater unity and effectiveness in the state.
In a related development, the NWC considered and deliberated on the report of the APC Ekiti State Governorship Aspirant Screening Exercise. At the end of the exercise, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo were cleared to contest the party’s governorship primary, while Engr. Ojo Kayode and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi were disqualified.
The party also announced that the APC National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by former Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, will be inaugurated soon.
Furthermore, the timetable for the party’s congresses across the country will be released in due course, while the APC Constitution Amendment Committee is expected to commence public hearings within October 2025.
The statement added that the APC Anambra State Governorship National Campaign Council will also be inaugurated shortly.
