APGA releases timetable for 2026 Anambra LG primaries

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled its provisional timetable for the 2026 Anambra State local government primary elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, APGA said the timetable was approved in accordance with the party’s constitution and the election schedule of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).

According to the schedule, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will run from January 27 to February 6 at the party’s Awka Regional Secretariat.

Screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants is slated for February 7 to February 11 across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards.

Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be considered on February 13.

Ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates will hold on February 14, while the chairmanship primary election is scheduled for February 15.

Appeals from the primaries will be handled on February 16, all in Awka.

APGA fixed the cost of chairmanship nomination forms at N6 million and councillorship forms at N600,000, with female aspirants and persons with disabilities eligible for a 50 per cent discount.

The party noted that all fees are non-refundable and that the timetable is subject to change.

The party urged aspiring candidates to adhere strictly to the outlined guidelines and APGA’s electoral regulations.
