The Nigerian Army has distributed fertilisers to farmers across several Local Government Areas of Benue State in a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at boosting food security and deepening civil-military relations in the region.

The exercise, conducted on April 15, 2026, was led by the Commander of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brig.-Gen. K.O. Bukoye, under the Army Headquarters Corporate Responsibility Project.

Themed “Using Agricultural Support to Improve Farming for Sustained Security,” the initiative is designed to support local farmers while promoting stability within the Joint Operations Area.

The event brought together community leaders, farmers and key stakeholders, alongside representatives of the OPWS Commander.

Security sources said the intervention forms part of broader efforts to foster cooperation between security forces and host communities, while tackling the underlying socioeconomic conditions that fuel insecurity in the state.
