At 55, Gov Sani donates food, cash to vulnerable

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, marked his 55th birthday with a humanitarian outreach that provided food items and financial assistance to orphans and hospital patients across Kaduna and Zaria through the Uba Sani Foundation.

Rather than hosting a party, the governor chose to celebrate the milestone by supporting vulnerable residents — including children in orphanages and patients receiving treatment in public hospitals.

According to the organisers, teams from the foundation visited seven orphanage homes and eight major public health facilities as part of the programme.

Executive Director of the foundation, Mallam Ibrahim Dan-Halilu, said food items worth millions of naira were delivered to the orphanages.

The donations included 50kg bags of rice, spaghetti, cooking oil, seasoning cubes, pomade, soap, sanitary pads and blankets to help the children stay warm during the Harmattan season.

Beneficiary orphanages included Umm Aytam Orphanage and Women Home in Unguwan Dosa, Al-Ihsan Orphanage in Nassarawa, Adonai Children and Widows Home in Kakuri, and Naphtali Orphanage in Gonin Gora, among others.

The outreach also reached several hospitals, including Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Yusuf Dantsoho General Hospital in Tudun Wada, Gwamna Awan General Hospital in Makera-Kakuri, General Hospital Kawo, and Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Zaria.

More than 200 patients received cash assistance to help pay for prescribed medications and laboratory tests.

Explaining the initiative, Dan-Halilu said the visits were meant “to remember the less privileged and assist them so they can enter the New Year with hope.”

He encouraged other well-to-do Nigerians to support the needy, noting that Governor Sani has been involved in humanitarian work long before becoming governor.

Recipients of the donations expressed appreciation and prayed for the governor’s continued good health and success.

Established in 2018, the Uba Sani Foundation focuses on health, education and empowerment.

It has provided scholarships to over 2,000 students, trained more than 5,000 women and youths in vocational skills, and supported over 10,000 people with medical assistance, including surgeries.
