Bandits operating in the Faskari forest of Katsina State have abducted 38 persons from Ruwan-Godiya Village in Faskari Local Government Area of the state.
The incident happened on Monday night, 31st January.
According to Mallam Jijirma Usman Faakari, three persons were wounded during the attack which lasted about two hours (from 7:30p.m. to 9:30p.m.).
The Star learnt that not less than 50 persons were initially abducted before 12 of them escaped, leaving 38 in the hands of the bandits.
The source added that he saw over 60 suspected bandits on their motorcycles riding towards the village before they opened fire, shooting sporadically.
He alleged that during the two-hour operation, no security agents came to their rescue, despite the fact that some of them were present in the village.
Ruwan-Godiya Village is along the Sheme-Yankara road where terrorists had last week abducted scores of commuters.
When contacted, the Katsina Police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the attack, but said he didn’t know the number of those abducted.
