Bauchi govt dismisses teacher over sexual harassment allegations

The Bauchi State Government has dismissed a teacher, Mr. Emos Joshua, following allegations of sexual harassment.

Joshua, who served as a Principal Assistant Education Officer at Government College, Azare, was sacked after the Civil Service Commission (CSC) reviewed his case at its 32nd plenary session held on September 11.

In a statement on Thursday, the CSC’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Saleh Umar, said the officer’s conduct violated sections 0327 (xxviii and xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Rules on sexual harassment.

According to Umar, the disciplinary action was taken after all procedures outlined in Rule 0317 of the Public Service Rules were duly followed.

Quoting the CSC Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, the statement noted that the dismissal was carried out in strict compliance with due process. He stressed that the decision was not punitive but aimed at upholding discipline, integrity, and professionalism in the state’s public service.

“This measure serves as a reminder to all staff that professional conduct and adherence to rules remain paramount for an effective and accountable public service,” Muhammad said.

Meanwhile, the commission has also approved the appointment of two acting deputy directors on Grade Level 16 and promoted 80 nursing officers to higher ranks.
