Benin foils attempted coup, Interior Minister confirms

Benin’s Interior Minister, Alassane Seidou, announced on Sunday that the country’s armed forces have successfully thwarted an attempted coup.

His statement followed an earlier broadcast on state television in which a group of soldiers claimed to have overthrown President Patrice Talon and dissolved all state institutions.

The minister reassured citizens that the situation was under control and urged the public to remain calm as security forces worked to restore normalcy.

The incident marks a significant moment of tension in the West African nation, and developments continue to unfold.
