Social media personality and relationship therapist, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised for her past comments, saying the death of her nine-year-old son has made her understand the pain she once spoke about carelessly.

Okoro made the emotional appeal in a video shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, days after her release from custody and months after her son, Bryan, died on June 8, 2026.

The social media personality, who was visibly distressed in the video, said she had left home to cry in her car because she did not want her mother to see her in that condition.

She admitted that she had spoken about experiences she had never personally encountered and apologised to people who might have been hurt by her remarks.

“I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly,” she said.

Okoro said she had learnt that words alone were insufficient to demonstrate remorse, adding that she was ready to make amends.

“Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears,” she said.

She appealed to those who had withdrawn their support because of her actions, as well as those who continued to stand by her, to forgive her.

The influencer described her return to her family as a decision to seek refuge and start afresh, saying she was not ashamed of admitting her mistakes.

“I’m back home like the prodigal son in the Bible. I’m not ashamed of coming back home where I was celebrated and had everything in abundance,” she said.

Addressing her late son, whom she affectionately called Doom Doom, Okoro said she missed him and regretted not being with him before his death.

“I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong. I’m ready to correct every wrong to keep making you proud in heaven,” she said.

She also spoke about the family’s grief, saying her mother and Bryan’s brother continued to struggle with the loss.

According to her, she and her mother sometimes hid from each other to cry, as they found it difficult to cope with the boy’s death.

Okoro said she had also been thinking about collecting her son’s school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books as she tried to come to terms with his absence.

“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late. I don’t know, but I’m sorry,” she said.

Bryan, who reportedly suffered from chronic asthma and recurring health challenges, died in a hospital while his mother was in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over separate fraud allegations.

Okoro was released on bail in late October and has since spoken publicly about her grief and regret over being unable to be with her son before he died.

Towards the end of the video, she appealed for divine intervention, describing the pain of losing her child as overwhelming.
