Two brothers, Michael Kolawole, 24, and Feranmi Kolawole, 25, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over allegations of housebreaking, theft, and malicious damage.
The defendants, who have no fixed address, are facing a three-count charge. Prosecutor, Insp. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the offences were committed on July 20 at about 9:00 a.m. in Ifinsin-Ekiti, Ido-Osi Local Government Area.
Adeniyi alleged that the brothers unlawfully broke into the home of one Mary Omoniyi, stealing cable wires valued at N3 million and damaging a POP ceiling worth N250,000. The offences, he said, contravene Sections 322(a)(b), 302(1)(a), and 354(1)(8) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty.
Their counsel, Mr. Oluwafemi Alabi, pleaded for bail, assuring the court they would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon granted each defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned to August 18 for hearing.
