COAS orders troops to intensify rescue efforts of kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to step up their search efforts for the students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Gen. Shaibu gave the directive on Monday during an operational visit to the state, where he met with frontline commanders and troops involved in the rescue mission.

He urged them to pursue the abductors relentlessly and conduct intelligence-driven operations aimed at securing the safe return of the students.

“We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he told the troops.

The Army Chief also met with local vigilante groups and hunters, whom he described as vital partners in the ongoing operation.

He encouraged them to work closely with soldiers, using their deep knowledge of the terrain to track down criminal elements responsible for the abduction.

According to him, the synergy between security forces and community actors is crucial to restoring peace and ensuring schools remain safe.

During the visit, Gen. Shaibu paid a condolence call on the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji.

He assured them that the military remains fully committed to rescuing the schoolgirls unharmed and returning stability to the affected communities.

He further urged troops to remain disciplined and patriotic, reminding them to operate strictly within the rules of engagement while maintaining resilience and readiness.
