A Jos Area Court in Plateau State has sentenced a teenager, Hassan Faruk, to six months imprisonment for stealing a Nokia phone valued at N120,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced 18-year-old Faruk after he pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him and prayed the court for leniency on Monday, September 23, 2024.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station by the complainant, Umar Isa, on May 15.
Gokwat said the teenager, a mechanic, trespassed into the complainant’s room and stole his Nokia phone.
He said during police investigation, the convict confessed to have committed the offence, adding that the phone was recovered from him.
The prosecutor stated that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law.
The judge, thereafter, sentenced Faruk to six months imprisonment with an option of a N50,000 fine.
