The Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, on Monday, remanded a 70-year-old man, Olabiwonnu Rotimi, and his 34-year-old son, Olabiwonnu Adedoyin, in a correctional centre over alleged murder of one Ogunsakin Sunday.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence in Afao-Ekiti on September 14, 2026.
Oriyomi alleged that one of the defendants, a former chairman of the Road Transport Employer Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State chapter, conspired with his son and murdered Sunday.
Oriyomi, who said the deceased was abducted by the defendants over a land dispute, told the court that Sunday was pulled out from the car and sustained injury.
He added that Sunday was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor, therefore, urged the court to remand the defendants at the correctional centre, pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The defendants’ pleas were, however, not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, consequently ordered the remand of the defendants at the correctional centre pending the legal advice.
Adeosun adjourned the case till November 2 for mention.
