Tragedy struck at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in the Onikoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, as a deacon at the church, Francis Ogunnusi, died while preaching on Sunday.
It was gathered that the late Ogunusi, who was the Baale of Onikoko community, was preaching before he became unconscious.
It was learned that the late deacon was preaching against the get-rich-quick syndrome, warning that those killing others to get rich would no longer have the money when they die.
“The money you make through unlawful means, killing people, sucking human blood, when death comes, it will belong to another person,” Ogunnusi, who delivered the sermon in Yoruba said.
He, however, fell with the microphone in his hand when his interpreter was about to present Ogunnusi’s words in English language, leading to pandemonium in the church auditorium as people rushed him to a hospital.

A member of the church, who declined to be named, disclosed that the late deacon was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, where he was pronounced dead.
The source said: “The man was talking about death and people who made money by killing other people. All of a sudden, he collapsed.
“He was rushed to the FMC, where he died. We don’t know what happened. I was very scared. Everything was disrupted. We just said the grace and went home.”
The source added that the remains of the late deacon have been deposited in the mortuary.
