Driver absconded as LASTMA recovers gun inside impounded car in Lagos

A pump-action rifle has been discovered inside an unregistered Honda car impounded by officers of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for driving against traffic.

The LASTMA General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, made this known via a statement issued on Thursday by the agency’s Director, Public Affairs Department, Taofiq Adebayo.

Oreagba disclosed that the black Honda car was impounded by the LASTMA patrol team while driving against traffic around Sango-Tedo, Abijo GRA on Lagos-Epe expressway on Thursday.

He stated that the driver of the unregistered vehicle absconded when he noticed that the gun had been sighted inside his car.

The LASTMA boss said both the car and recovered gun had been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer at Ilasan for further investigation.

Oreagba, however, appealed to Lagosians to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement within their environment to security agencies.
