The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested no fewer than seven suspected internet fraudsters, including two clerics in Ilorin, Kwara State.
This was disclosed via a statement issued on Saturday by the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.
Uwujaren stated that the seven suspects were arrested at a hotel close to a popular mall in Ilorin.
He noted that a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member was among the arrested suspects.
The EFCC spokesperson disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the two clerics were hired and lodged in the hotel to offer spiritual help to some of the arrested suspects.

Uwujaren added that the suspects, who had volunteered useful information, would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
He said the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, enjoined youths to make hard work their watchword and shun corruption, saying “Yahoo-Yahoo is not a sustainable way of life”.
“The fact that the rate of unemployment is high should not be an excuse to resort to crimes.
“Acts of criminality may deliver wealth in the short term, but ultimately there will be misery and gnashing of teeth,” the EFCC spokesman quoted Bawa as saying.
He assured that the anti-graft agency would spare no efforts towards ensuring a corrupt-free Nigeria.
