Oluchi was arrested on December 23, 2025, at Eke Nibo Market in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State by fellow traders who suspected her of using fake notes. She was initially handed over to the Agunechemba Vigilante group, which later transferred her to the Department of State Services.

On December 29, 2025, the EFCC took custody of Oluchi and discovered that she possessed counterfeit One Thousand Naira notes with six different serial numbers.
