Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji
The Ekiti State Government has directed political parties to pay a ₦5 million fee before displaying campaign posters, billboards, branding, or jingles ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The directive was issued by the Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency through its Director-General, Adebisi Adesua, as part of new regulations governing campaign materials in the state.
In a letter dated November 12 and addressed to the Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, the agency emphasized that no campaign signage should be displayed until the fee is paid.
Parties that ignore the rule risk sanctions under Section 30, Sub-sections 1–4 of the agency’s establishing law.
The letter also specified locations where posters are strictly prohibited, including government buildings, the State Secretariat, public schools, and bridge piers.
Payments are to be made via cheque or draft to the agency’s Polaris Bank account.
The government explained that the fee and restrictions aim to regulate the posting of campaign materials and protect public structures during the election period.
