Former Governor Ayodele Fayose has stamped his authority on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State.
Fayose’s anointed candidate, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, trounced former Governor Segun Oni and others in the party’s primaries conducted on Wednesday.
Kolawole emerged the PDP governorship candidate with 671 votes against Oni’s 330.
Former Deputy Governor to Fayose, Prof. Olusola Kolapo, came a distant third with 93 votes.
Adewale Aribisala came distant fourth with 56 votes while Kayode Adaramodu got 10 votes and Kazeem Ayodeji secured 6 votes.
Senator Biodun Olujimi, who pulled out of the race before the commencement of voting on Wednesday, got two votes.
Ironically, four aspirants only got their respective vote. The aspirants – Deborah Ali, Ojo, Makanjuola and Aderemi Adewumi – got one vote each.
The primaries took place in Ado-Ekiti.
Kolawole, a staunch ally of Fayose, is a former member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, onetime commissioner for environment, and former state chairman of PDP.
He resigned as party’s chairman to contest for the governorship ticket.
