The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has died at the age of 71 after a brief illness.
His passing was confirmed by Hon. Kabiru Amadu, the lawmaker representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. According to him, the respected monarch died at a medical facility in Abuja.
Born in 1954, Dr. Bello was appointed the 15th Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015, by then-Governor Abdulaziz Yari, following the death of his elder brother and predecessor, Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Danbaba, on March 5, 2015.
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, expressed his condolences via his official social media platforms, quoting the Quranic verse: “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
“May Allah have mercy on His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello. May He forgive him, grant him eternal peace, and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen,” the governor wrote.
Funeral arrangements for the late Emir are yet to be officially announced.
