Ex-Kano anti-graft chairman alleges Kwankwaso got N3bn

A private legal practitioner and former Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, has alleged that former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, received more than N3 billion from the state treasury under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf within a seven-month period.

Rimingado made the allegations in a video circulating on social media, whose authenticity he reportedly confirmed to journalists.

According to him, the payments were made between December 2023 and June 2024 for various purposes, including housing, office construction, vehicles, medical expenses and holidays.

He alleged that Kwankwaso received N1 billion and an additional N50,000 in December 2023 for the construction of a house.

Rimingado further claimed that another N525 million was released for the construction of an office during the same period.

“Malam Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso collected N1 billion and N50,000 to build his house. In the same December, he collected N525 million for the construction of his office,” he alleged.

The former anti-corruption commission chairman also claimed that Kwankwaso received N1.24 billion and an additional N400,000 for the purchase of official vehicles.

He further alleged that N100.8 million was paid for medical treatment, while N510.213 million was released for holidays.

“On June 2024, Kwankwaso collected N100.8 million for medication and another N510.213 million for holidays. These are public funds and the records are there,” he said.

Rimingado maintained that the payments were made without due process and hinted that more details regarding the alleged transactions would emerge in the coming days.

“There is more to be revealed. What I have said is only part of what happened. The people of Kano deserve to know how their resources were spent,” he stated.

He also challenged Kwankwaso to institute legal proceedings against him if the allegations were false.

“I challenge Kwankwaso to take me to court if what I have said is false. Let him seek legal redress if he believes these allegations are not true,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Kwankwaso and his associates had not responded to the allegations.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and no official documents have been made public to substantiate the claims.
