Ex-Ondo governorship candidate, Bamidele Akingboye, dies at 60

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November 16, 2024, governorship election in Ondo State, Bamidele Akingboye, has died at the age of 60.

Akingboye’s demise was confirmed by his Personal Assistant and Media Adviser, Oyeniyi Iwakun, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Iwakun disclosed that Akingboye died in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence in Victoria Garden City, Lagos.

Ondo deputy gov denies land dispute with widow

He described his late boss as “a man of unwavering integrity, an accomplished businessman, philanthropist, visionary leader, and community builder who lived a fulfilled and purposeful life.”

He added that the burial arrangements and further details would be communicated in due course.

Akingboye was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Benshore Maritime, CEO of Clog Oil Systems, and President of WeAfrica Group.
