Voting started as scheduled at Polling Unit 18, Post Office, in the Abuja Municipal Area Council on Saturday, as residents participated in the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections.
The exercise commenced at about 9:05 a.m. after electoral officials completed the display of the voter register and party agents verified details using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.
Observers reported an orderly process, with accreditation proceeding smoothly and BVAS devices functioning effectively.
Security presence was also visible at the polling unit to maintain order and protect electoral materials. Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigeria Correctional Service were deployed to the area to ensure a peaceful voting environment.
