The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed reports that all government schools in the FCT would close by November 28, 2025, calling the claims false and misleading.
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on Public Communications and Social Media, confirmed that no such decision was made at any level of the administration.
Following the controversy, the Minister has suspended the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, while the Acting Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has been instructed to discipline the Director of School Services, Mrs. Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with civil service rules.
The FCTA urged parents, students, and school authorities to ignore the rumour, emphasizing that the approved academic calendar remains unchanged.
The administration also reassured residents of adequate security in schools, with directives for the resumption of Operation Sweep and other security initiatives across the Federal Capital.
