FirstBank confirms Ijabiyi as marketing, communications chief

FirstBank has confirmed the appointment of Olayinka Ijabiyi as its substantive Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, with immediate effect.

Ijabiyi, who has over 25 years of experience across financial services, telecommunications, media, and international development, had been serving in an acting capacity in the role since December 2024.

He joined FirstBank in 2011, holding successive leadership positions within the marketing and communications department, including Head of Brand Strategy and Special Projects, Head of Digital Marketing, and Head of Brand and Stakeholder Management.

Before joining the bank, Ijabiyi held roles at the British Council, Multichoice, MTN, and Etisalat Nigeria, where he was involved in brand development, corporate communications, and digital transformation.

In his current role, he oversees integrated marketing and communications strategy across the group’s markets, covering brand and reputation management, executive positioning, corporate responsibility and sustainability, and strategic communications.

Ijabiyi holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the former Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti.

He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
