Four new senators join National Assembly

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday administered the oath of office to four newly elected senators following their victories in the June 20 senatorial by-elections.

The lawmakers sworn in are Ikeje Asogwa of Enugu North, Olaka Nwogu of Rivers South-East, Dayo Faduyile of Ondo South, and Danladi Envulu-Anza of Nasarawa North.

Faduyile was elected to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of former Ondo South senator, Jimoh Ibrahim, as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The other three senators replaced lawmakers who previously represented their respective districts but died while in office earlier in the year.

The swearing-in ceremony formally completes the representation of the affected senatorial districts in the National Assembly following the by-elections.
