Another round of strike is looming in the Nigeria’s university following the failure of the Federal Government to pay the full salaries of some members of the Academic Staff of Universities (ASUU).
ASUU had embarked on an industrial action on February 14, 2022, to press home an improved academic environment and welfare of members.
Some of the lecturers’ demands are the funding of the Revitalisation of Public Universities, Earned Academic Allowances, University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS), and promotion arrears.
Others are the renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FG Agreement and the inconsistency in the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System.
The union, on October 14, suspended its eight-month-old strike and directed lecturers to resume academic activities immediately.

However, some lecturers, on Thursday, said the Federal Government has yet to pay them full salaries.
It was gathered that some ASUU members only got payment for 18 working days in October.
A senior member of the ASUU National Executive Council, who craved anonymity, said: “We were only paid for the days after the strike. I received a half salary.
“Other members are angry right now, they are blaming the NEC for calling off the strike.”
The latest development was confirmed by the ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, saying: “Yes, it is true and we are honestly shocked.”
