Gov Uba Sani vows crackdown on crime, drug gangs in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has issued a stern warning to criminal gangs and drug dealers, declaring that the state will not be allowed to become a safe haven for those threatening the peace and safety of its citizens.

Speaking through his Deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, during the inauguration of a Special Task Force on Community Policing and Drug Control on Wednesday, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and order across the state.

Governor Sani stated that Kaduna will not tolerate any attempts by “a few misguided individuals” to undermine the peace that residents have worked hard to maintain.

He emphasized that anyone found disrupting the public order or endangering lives would face the full force of the law.

Dr. Balarabe noted that while progress is being made in tackling insurgents and bandits in rural areas, violent crimes are now creeping into urban centers — a trend she described as “urban terrorism.”

She stressed the urgency of addressing this shift before it becomes entrenched.

“We are not only committed to eliminating violent crime and drug abuse,” she said, “but also to ensuring that our streets, neighborhoods, and homes remain safe for everyone.”

The Deputy Governor warned members of the newly inaugurated Task Force not to compromise their integrity, reminding them of the seriousness of their mission.

“This is a sacred duty, and it demands full dedication and commitment,” she emphasized.

Dr. Balarabe called on the public to join the fight against crime, urging residents to report known or suspected drug dens, phone snatchers, and criminal syndicates.

She also encouraged citizens to expose those buying or selling stolen goods, noting that such activities only serve to fuel further crime.

“Our communities must reject the culture of silence,” she said. “If you see something suspicious, say something. Security is everyone’s responsibility, and peace is a shared treasure.”

She charged the Task Force to discharge its duties with integrity, diligence, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people of Kaduna State.

“Let your actions be guided by the law and the urgent need to protect our future,” she advised.

Dr. Balarabe concluded by expressing hope that with collective effort, Kaduna can reclaim its streets, restore peace, and provide young people with better alternatives than crime and addiction.
