Governor Kefas officially joins APC

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has officially registered as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kefas announced this via a post on X, saying he received his membership card on Sunday.

The governor appreciated the warm welcome from APC party executives and members across Taraba State.

“Not so long ago, I received my All Progressives Congress (APC) membership card from Hon. Umaru Tanko, the Chairman of the APC Hospital Ward in Wukari LGA. I appreciate the warm welcome from the executives and members of the APC in Taraba state,” he wrote.

Kefas was earlier scheduled to formally join the APC on November 19, 2025.

However, the defection was suspended in honour of members of the armed forces and citizens recently killed by terrorists.

The governor’s defection marks a major political shift in Taraba State, where all governors have been members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 1999.

His defection also raises the number of states controlled by the APC to 27.
