Two operational vehicles of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) were razed by gunmen on Monday following an attack on the station in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the station was attacked by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday.

Confirming the attack, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said the assailants were unable to gain access into the studio but succeeded in burning two operational vehicles belonging to the station.

Ikenga stated that no life was lost in the incident, adding that police operatives have cordoned off the station.

He said: “Following a distress call today May 30, at about 4:30 a.m. of a case of arson in Anambra State Broadcasting Station Idemili North, the police operatives responded swiftly and prevented hoodlums from causing damage to the structure.

“Unfortunately, two of the operational vehicles belonging to the station were affected. No life was lost.

“Meanwhile, the station has been cordoned off and operation is still ongoing in the area,” the police spokesperson stated.
