Gunmen attack police checkpoint in Ebonyi, kill one officer

Gunmen have attacked a police checkpoint at Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, and killed a policeman.

Confirming the incident, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said the gunmen also set the police van on the spot ablaze during the attack on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Gunmen kill 19 in Kogi community

Ukandu said: “It happened early on Thursday morning. I have been trying to get the details of what happened, but one police officer was killed and a vehicle was burnt.

“More details will be made available soon.”
