Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man after operatives discovered a fresh human head and two human palms concealed in a nylon bag in his possession in Igbesa.
The suspect, Idowu Ashafa, was intercepted in the early hours of Thursday during a routine patrol conducted by officers of the Igbesa Division, led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Solotan K. Owolabi and supervised by Area Commander ACP Folashade Tanaruno.
Command spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, in a statement on Saturday, said preliminary investigation indicated that Ashafa allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village in Igbesa, apparently for ritual purposes.
The implement used in the exhumation was recovered, and the scene visited and documented by investigators.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime across the state and called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
