Gunmen, Worshippers, Kaduna students, Pregnant wife

No fewer than four police officers were shot dead on Wednesday, following an attack on Atani Police Station in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

A resident of the community disclosed that four police operatives, including a female, lost their lives in the attack.

The incident was confirmed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga.

“The hoodlums came at about 1 am, and unluckily for us, four police operatives paid the supreme price,” Ikenga said.

He added that the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, on hearing of the attack immediately mobilised officers from various units to the area.

He said the gunmen were successfully repelled by the policemen led by the CP.

The police spokesman noted that security operatives were still on the hunt of the hoodlums.

“We have commenced intelligence already, and we hope to unravel the persons behind the attack,” he added.
