Gunmen kill 4 in Delta shooting

No fewer than four persons have been killed in a shooting in Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State by gunmen.

It was gathered that the gunmen in a Toyota Highlander opened fire randomly around the busy area of Ekpan in the wee hours of Christmas Day.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said two persons died on the spot while two others died at the hospital on Monday.

Edafe, however, dismissed speculations in some quarters that the incident was a cult clash.

“We are not aware of any cult war in Ekpan. It was random shooting by some persons in a  Toyota Highlander. Two persons died on the spot while another two died today (Monday),” the police spokesperson added.

He stated that it was not true that anybody died in a shooting in Sapele, noting that there was shooting there but no resident was killed.

Edafe reiterated that the police were on top of the security situation in Ekpan and other parts of Delta State.
