Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, son of former Kano State Deputy Governor, has petitioned the Kano State Commissioner of Police over alleged defamation of character involving the Director General of Media and Publicity to the state governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The petition, submitted on June 17, 2026, through his counsel, Barr. Nazifi Yusuf Gorondutse, accused Sunusi Bature of making defamatory remarks during a political gathering held on June 13, 2026.
According to the petition, the governor’s aide allegedly mentioned Mujahid Gwarzo’s name in connection with claims that he received “Awalaja” from the 44 local government chairmen in the state.
It further stated that a video of the comments was circulated on social media, which the complainant said damaged his reputation and subjected him to public ridicule.
The petitioner urged the police to investigate the allegations and take necessary legal action in line with the law.
The police have yet to issue an official response on the matter.
